When Should I Take Motion Sickness Pills

It’s the end of summer and you’re planning to go out on some fall adventures, but what do you do if you get sick? Well, there are a lot of things that can cause this uncomfortable sensation in your stomach and head. Motion sickness pills can help alleviate the symptoms caused by any of these situations. Here are some tips about the best times to utilize motion sickness medication:
For A Day on the Lake
If you’re going to be on the water for a long time, take Jet-Avert one hour before your outing. The medicine should kick in about an hour later, just in time to cruise on the lake. If you are only going on a short trip, or if it is not possible to take medication beforehand, then take the tablet once you start feeling sick.
On A Cruise Ship
You should always take motion sickness pills before you get on a ship or other vessel. Cruise ships can sometimes be deceiving and you may feel fine in one section of the ship but not the next. Taking motion sickness medication can help prevent nausea and vomiting, which are both common symptoms for motion sickness sufferers.
Not surprisingly, it’s also important to keep taking the medication throughout your trip if you need it. The appropriate dosage will vary from person to person and is dependent upon the severity of your condition. Follow the directions on your specific prescription or over-the-counter medicine label for how many doses should be taken in one day; do not exceed these recommendations unless directed otherwise by your doctor.
Long Road Trips
If you’re taking a long road trip, motion sickness pills can help keep you focused on the road and avoid distraction from nausea. Take one dose an hour before hitting the road. This gives time for the medicine to take effect and wear off by the time you reach your destination.
Avoiding sugary drinks and greasy fast food will help avoid motion sickness, which is more common with these types of foods than healthy options like fruit, vegetables or yogurt. Try bringing natural snacks that naturally help with motion sickness like ginger ale or an apple.
Amusement Parks
The next time you visit an amusement park, don’t be afraid to pack some motion sickness pills. Motion sickness can really take the fun out of a day at the fair or carnival. The rides are exciting and the games are fun, but if you’re suffering with nausea and headaches it won’t be as much fun for you or your family.
If you have a history of motion sickness, keeping some motion sickness pills in your purse or pocket is also a good idea. If they’re there when symptoms start to kick in, they might just save your day!
It’s important to remember that everyone is different and no one remedy will work for everyone. But, hopefully, this article has helped you find the right method (or methods) of dealing with motion sickness in your own unique situation.
